When advertising a private room, I confirm that I have permission from my landlord to advertise the room. you can use this page to post a spare room in your flat, but if you are looking to sublet your room you must gain permission from your landlord first. For more information, see here

When advertising a University room:

• I am advertising on the basis that I am looking for someone to take over my lease. the University does not allow students to sublet their rooms. You must not take any money from another student or enter into any agreement with them directly. See here for more information
• I understand that finding a student to take over the lease is subject to their eligibility for the contract Replacement tenants must be a full-time, fully matriculated student for the full duration of the lease. For University rooms in halls, the replacement student must match the level of study of the exiting student. For example, a postgraduate room lease can only be taken over by a postgraduate student.
• I understand that if I find a student to take over my room, both parties must liaise with the University about arranging the change of lease. both parties must contact the University Allocations team at accom.allocations@ed.ac.uk from their University email addresses confirming their students statuses and wish to take over the contract. The original student will be released from their lease once the replacement student has accepted their offer of accommodation
